[Non] Celebrity Hoarder

I have always prided myself with being exceptionally organized and streamlined, so it was quite dismaying when my bestest fried pointed out to me on her last trip to LA that I am a complete closet hoarder. We were all gathered around her family’s dinner table when the conversation of celebrity hoarders came up. I proudly announced to all with a judgement filled tone that “I am SO not a hoarder! I just can’t can’t stand having ‘stuff’!!!” To which Trish the Dish scoffed “That is so NOT true! Just look at your closet!”

Upon returning home that night I took a long hard look at my closet…and drawers…and cabinets…and under my bed and had to admit to myself that she was, indeed, right. Over the next few days I just couldn’t get this out of my head (I am also completely obsessive), and I knew I had to do something about this, and FAST!

By the time I got home from work on Friday the 12th I had had enough. I had barely set my purse down when I got to work on cleaning the clutter. And what clutter there was! My freaking goodness, just what have I been doing!?! I started in the highest of the kitchen cabinets and worked my way back to the furthest reaches of my closet. That first night I worked until 2am, and have only just finished moments ago. I did, however, take time out to work and sleep…which was difficult due to my extreme obsessiveness.

I have filled the boyfriend’s basement floor to ceiling with stuff to sell at our upcoming yard sale, not to mention my building’s trash and recycling bins. In going through my clutter I have found, among other things, about two boxes of mismatched Tupperware, a complete set of dishes, countless other kitchen items, a TV, two DVD players and a VCR, and boxes of old clothes. I found pay stubs from ten years ago and [paid] parking tickets from right around the time I first got my license. I EVEN cleaned out under my bed (oh the horrors that were there), which was no easy feat as I had to actually remove my mattress in order to get under there. I even collected all of my gift cards and called on the balances and reconciled all my travel miles and typed labels for my file folders. Literally. Every inch. Scrubbed and Organized. Thank you Trish the Dish!!!!

I am itching to take pictures of it all and post a slide show, but I can’t find my dang camera. The irony of that is so not lost on me.
